How do you get rid of a sinus infection if antibiotics don't work?


I've had a sinus infection for two and half months and have been on two antibiotics now and still have this infection, does anyone know how to get rid of these in a matter of a few days? Thanks SO much!

Here are some home remedies I have tried, I dont know if they will work in a few days but anything is worth a shot when feeling lousy, Thanks so much for your help. Yes, Im calling the Doctor tommorrow. You should inhale steam vapors periodically. This is a very simple yet effective home remedy for sinus infection. There are two main reasons why antibiotics do not work for sinus infections or sinusitis. Antibiotics were routinely given for acute sinus infections for many years. I got a cold. I started using Zicam Cold Remedy Oral Spray. I used up almost the entire bottle over eight days. Took it as directed every three hours, 24 hours a day. First five days very little congestion, no sneezing or coughing, but physically very tired, slept a lot. On sixth day sinus and chest and nose started getting runny. Congestion was not thick as usual. Miserable all day and night. 7th day better, just cough and slight sinus, lots of runny nose. By eighth day things subsided pretty well. This product tastes terrible and numbs my taste buds temporarily as long as I used it. Now, normally when I have a cold I am miserable ALL of the time for at least ten days. I cough so hard that once I cracked a rib. So while my experience with Zicam is not similar to those who stop a cold dead in its tracks in a couple of days, it is definitely a vast improvement, and I will be using it until something better comes along. Over share: For allergy relief keep the nostrils greased up with Vaseline when pollen is high, cheap and effective. Use Qtips.

Unfortunately, the oral mist didn't do anything for me. I used exactly as directed, and at the very first sign I thought I felt something in the back of my throat. I ended up with a horrible sinus cold anyway. The nasal gel used to work, however, before it was banned. Reason being, the cold virus grows primarily in the areas of the nose the nasal gel targeted. Spraying this stuff in the mouth does not have the same effect. How can it?

I really think Zicam works - everytime I get a cold I use Zicam and it seems to reduce my symptoms within a day or 2. everyone I talk to has the same opinion on the product. I don't think many know about Zicam yet, and it is a shame because it really seems to work. Use the product as it is recommended and it will work!

I am a BzzAgent, and was sent samples of this product. I passed it around to friends at work, and one reported that she was feeling badly, took the Zicam, and then never got sick. I did hear one complaint about the taste.

I like this product a lot. It cuts the duration of colds for me. I've used it for years. The zinc competes the rhino virus for receptor sites. Lowering the viral load makes sense to me. Not all Zicam is the same

I went looking for the cold/flu Zicam, which is an effective mix of common antihistamines, decongestants, etc., and purchased this pricey zinc supplement/ FDA-recalled product by mistake. Zinc doesn't usually help: see the Mayo Clinic's advice if you like. At any rate, be sure to check the ingredients to see if this is the Zicam that you're looking for. Caveat emptor.

Searching for a way to fend off a cold so that I would be healthy enough to have surgery, I picked up Zicam melts to supplement Emergen-C's Gram III tabs that I already take on a daily basis. Much to my surprise and relief the combination knocked out the cold symptoms after 3 days of use, and allowed my immune system time to get on its feet prior to surgery.The directions are to take 1 melt-away Zicam at the first signs of cold symptoms and then every 3 hours until the symptoms subside. I took this product for 3 days along with 4-6 Emergen-C Super Gram III Tablets, 90-Count Bottle (Pack of 2) throughout that time. While my daughter caught a cold despite using just the Zicam, my combination approach seemed to stop my cold dead in its tracks. (Note: product is OK to take for ages 3 and up.)This product melts quickly and the taste isn't bad either. I did notice that after 2 days of round-the-clock use I did have a slight yeast infection in my mouth from the sugar content of the product. I would advise anyone using it to also take acidopholis or eat yogurt while taking it.Overall, I think this product is a good addition to an anti-cold/flu arsenal, but may not be ideal as a stand-alone supplement.

Heard about this from a relative, who said that she takes it every time she experiences the onset of cold symptoms. Anytime I've had the sniffles or the start of a sore throat, have taken it (as directed) and found that the symptoms disappear within a day. Have used this product a half a dozen times and it has proven 100% effective so far.

I have never been one to buy into the the whole herbal remedy way of thinking but I cannot recommend this product with anymore enthusiasm. I was told about Cold Snap about 8 years ago by an emergency room nurse. I figured what the heck I'll try it. Everytime I would catch a cold it would progress into bronchitis. Since using Cold Snap I haven't gotten bronchitis and my colds are extremely mild.

I use cold snap whenever I feel a cold coming on. First signs is stuffy nose, sore throat. I take six capsules a day for the first couple of days and it seems that my symptoms disappear. I haven't had any sickness for over a year when normally I get at least 2-3 colds (I have kids and tend to catch things from them.) I also give it to my kids at the first sign of any symptoms.

These are great for when kids are sick or have been around someone else who is sick. I truly believe in their preventative quality and in their speedier recovery quality. My husband and I use Cold-eeze (or the store brand equivalent) and I use these for the kids.

Awesome for small children

I have two kids (7 & 4) and they love this product. I originally bought this for safety reasons (at the time they were 5 & 3) and was conserned that the cough drops at the store might get cause choking (although supervision is recommended with this as well it's easier to remove from the mouth due to the Saf-t-pops design). The kids say that when they have their "special pop" that it doesn't hurt to swallow or breath. And it tastes good too.Totally awesome for daycare / school - I just slip it in their backpack and call ahead to let the caretaker/teacher know that if they complain or are coughing excessively it is there for them. The caretakers/teachers like it too because it helps them feel better, no dosage issues, and unlike with pain relievers & other meds there is immediate relief.Unfortunately, they no longer sell it in CVS, Target, Walgreens or Walmart (I checked before checking here). So glad I found it because I was down to my last one!

I have a history of cold sores/sun blisters when I get extremely fatigued and get too much sun. When I feel one coming on I start to use Novitra and it works great for me. It actually stops the cold sore from forming altogether. The only problem that I'm having is finding it at my local pharmacies.

This product has worked extremely well for me. As someone who has had a long history of large cold sores, I highly recommend Novitra.I have used prescription medication for years to lessen the frequency/severity of my outbreaks, but recently have started to get cold sores again. When I first tried this product about 3 years ago, I saw it sitting on the shelf at Rite Aid. I felt horrible and was desperate to feel better. This product was kinda pricey but with the guarantee, I figured, why not. First thing I noticed was that it was much more pleasant tasting than other zinc products, so that was a huge plus. Then wow! The next day, I felt so much better. Now every time I feel a cold coming on I take this product, and I have yet to experience the horrible cold symptoms I would experience every year without fail. Unfortunately, I can't find it in stores anymore so I have to come on here or ebay to get it. I really wish it was easier to come by. Give it a try - it worked great for me!

Great product, except for the pump

If it weren't for the pump, this product would get a 5-star rating. I've battled cold sores all my life and this killed the sore immediately. No other product has done so well. However, the pump is very hard to control and dispenses way too much, resulting in waste.

I ordered this product a few times. Besides them uping the price each time, they also change the product each time too. From the crappy pump to the workable tube. If you ever used this product you know that the pump when fully used still retains 20% of the product at the bottom of the pump (just take it apart next time you fully use one and see). At the cost per ounce (@ $200) that is a lot wasted. I will never buy this product from them again. And also want to put the new site that has a cheaper price and still in the tube.

Once you start feeling the symptoms, rub it into skin 5 times a day, that way the sore doesn't even grow! The gel stunts it like you never had it, but you HAVE to detect it at the first sign, otherwise the gel won't be as effective and will just try to speed up the healing process over several days.

Abreva rocks. Absolutely rocks. Always has. I bought this pump because the tube doesn't last long in a pocket. Abreva is a supreme germ killer. Kills a cold sore in about 3 days (if you use it the day you find your cold sore). Abreva also kills pimples in less time than any pimple killing substance on the market. Good product.
